Act

Step 3

Act

For businesses, taking positive action is a change to influence to reach out to the communities they serve and give back. It is a chance to influence their employees and the community in a positive way, engage with the consumers they rely upon and communicate with the businesses in their supply chain.

For people, taking positive action is about spreading the word, empowering ourselves to be active citizens and even volunteering to help out on local initiatives.

Businesses can offset their carbon footprint by 110% by purchasing verified carbon credits from independent carbon projects. These projects, mostly in the developing world, are working towards reducing emissions and contributing towards sustainable development.

They can also choose to donate. Planet Positive supports a range of community projects in the developing world, rainforest protection programmes and local climate projects through the Community Carbon Fund. Businesses can support one or a mixture of these initiatives.

Why Act?

Every Planet Positive certified business, product, event or person commits to taking positive action by either donating to community projects, or offsetting into verified carbon projects. This is what makes Planet Positive accreditation so special. All bearers of our mark have gone beyond the normal call of duty and have given back. They are committed to making a positive contribution to the future of our world.

The Community Carbon Fund, which enables investment in local climate projects, is administered by the Planet Positive Foundation, the not-for-profit arm of the business. The Foundation helps source and invest into community-based projects.

Working with charity partners, Planet Positive also offers you the ability to support developing world community projects and rainforest protection programmes through a donation.

If you choose to offset your emissions, you can be sure that you are making a contribution. . All Planet Positive projects are verifiable, quantifiable and additional (which means they have had to prove that your money is needed to make the difference), ensuring they result in real and permanent reductions in emissions.

Many of the projects we invest in are in the developing world, where financing would not happen without the money raised from the sale of carbon credits, so your investment is also contributing to sustainable development, cleaner technologies, employment, new infrastructures.
